Useful or @ least interesting sites on this Informational Freeway that we call Cyberspace that I'm posting in an effort to guide the unsuspecting surfer away from the potholes.

   ART:

  • Michael Whelan - In my eyes, the world's greatest illustrator.  A personal hero of mine and many others I'm sure. Mind-blowing.
  • Nick Bantock - Another inspiration of mine.  An incredibly versatile and creative, driven artist/author.
  • Yoshitoshi Abe - Creator of the revolutionary animated character Lain.
  • Brian Froud - The man who has taken Arthur Rackham's place in the modern world.
  • Lebbeus Woods - Ridiculously visionary architect whose renderings ought to be and are considered fine art.
  • Paul Youll - When are you getting a website, Paul?
  • Andy Goldsworthy - Amazing environmental sculptor, everyone should see his work.

  •

   LITERATURE:

  • Infinity Plus - A fantabulous collection of short fiction, interviews and links by, with and to some of today's greatest authors.
  • Ian R. MacLeod - READ.  NOW.  Not "in a minute", not "soon", not "tomorrow", NOW.  No regrets...guaranteed.
  • Fisheye - Simon Ings' site, detailing his work and providing various links.
  • Alastair Reynolds - Home of the fantastic writer of fiction, sometime artist, full-time ESA astrophysisist, and all-around nice guy.
  • Aleph - Probably the most comprehensive William Gibson resource on the net since the demise of "Yardshow".
  • Slowly Downward - Homepage of Radiohead webmaster and general creative force Stanley Donwood.
  • Iain M. Banks - If the master has a good website, I don't know of it..::sigh::

  •

   MUSIC:

  • Travis - Scotland's saddest 4-piece.  Love them, I command it.
  • Ben Folds - Though the band broke up, Ben's still rockin' the suburbs...
  • Radiohead - Earth's most ambitious art-project.  It's a band!  It's a plane!  It's...um...a bunch of pasty-white English guys.
  • Glen Phillips - Talented singer/song-writer with a side of neighborly nice.
  • Belle and Sebastian - CDs chock full of snazzy little songs with decidedly unique lyrics.  See also: Looper.
  • Counting Crows - If Adam Duritz's lyrics were more miserable, the military'd have a new weapon.  All of us have been there...
  • Doves - Ambient BritPop, need I say more...?
  • Coldplay - If sissy-rock had a name.  Put all sharp objects away before listening.
  • Underworld - Yet another musical, artful, creative mish-mash of...stuff.
  • Pulp - Think YOU have dirty thoughts?  Get out of that confessional, you saint!
  • Duncan Sheik - The Buddist singer/songwriter from Montclair who could sing a pack of rabid dogs into a mellow mood.

  •

   ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ELSE:

    (FRIENDS)

  • Lacey Haas Photography - One of the single most important people ever to cross paths with mine.  Check out her stuff.
  • Patty's "Kick-Ass" Website - Always there to dish out occasional beatings of my self-esteem. This girl is all kinds of cool.
  • Cassette - Listening to their music is less like hell, more like purgatory.  My roommate's band.
   (FILE UNDER "DORK")
  • LVL - Play Quake 3?  Sick of the old levels?  Pick up some new ones here - their reviewers tell it like it is.
  • Plastic AltCulture - Anything and everything you could ever want to know about sub-cultures, geek-speak, revolutionary movements, and more.

  •

(more to come, to be sure)
